Sunday Lesson

Hi Sisters! This was my week to teach in Relief Society. What a great lesson! It was on the Martyrdom of Joseph Smith. If you haven't read the lesson click here! Since the lesson was so good, I didn't add too much to it, and read a lot of it right from the book. We also read the words to the hymn that Joseph asked be sung right before is death, A Poor Wayfaring May of Grief. This was a powerful lesson about how Joseph knew that his time was at hand, and how he handled knowing that we was going to seal his testimony in his own blood. My favorite quote from my lesson, was by Pres. Monson, he said,

"Although those who sought to take his life felt that the Church would collapse without him, his powerful testimony of truth, the teachings he translated, and his declaration of the Savior’s message go on today in the hearts of over 12 million members throughout the world, who

Proclaim him a prophet of God."

A Big Change

Unfortunately I had to miss church today, but I just found out that we have a new Relief Society Presidency!! What an exciting event! Good luck to the new presidency, our thoughts and prayers are always with you guys! To the out going presidency, a great big THANK YOU!!! You have worked wonders and have been a joy to be around!!

Sunday our lesson was taught by Sister Claudia Ross. It was chapter 45 in the manual, entitled, "Joseph Smith's Feelings about his Prophetic Mission." If you haven't read the lesson, click here!

Sister Ross told us about Joseph Smith's feelings about knowing his time was done on the earth. He felt very loving, cheerful and was very willing to teach others. Sister Ross went on to explain that we need to be like Joseph Smith. Joseph was cheerful, and one way we can be cheerful is to change our perspective. He was also loving, and we can show love by being non-judgmental. Joseph was also very desirous to teach. One way that we can teach, is to teach and lead by example. Sister Ross went on to say that Joseph Smith had a mission while on the earth. To be like him, she said that we should know our missions, which could include saving ourselves and saving others.

Sister Ross went on to say that even though Joseph Smith was a servant of God, he was just a man. Several quotes were read from the lesson to show this point. One way we can model our lives after Joseph's is to accept our leaders flaws, and to not hold them to perfection.

What a wonderful lesson! Thanks to Sister Ross for all her hard work!!
