Sunday our lesson was taught by Sister Claudia Ross. It was chapter 45 in the manual, entitled, "Joseph Smith's Feelings about his Prophetic Mission." If you haven't read the lesson, click here! Sister Ross told us about Joseph Smith's feelings about knowing his time was done on the earth. He felt very loving, cheerful and was very willing to teach others. Sister Ross went on to explain that we need to be like Joseph Smith. Joseph was cheerful, and one way we can be cheerful is to change our perspective. He was also loving, and we can show love by being non-judgmental. Joseph was also very desirous to teach. One way that we can teach, is to teach and lead by example. Sister Ross went on to say that Joseph Smith had a mission while on the earth. To be like him, she said that we should know our missions, which could include saving ourselves and saving others.
Sister Ross went on to say that even though Joseph Smith was a servant of God, he was just a man. Several quotes were read from the lesson to show this point. One way we can model our lives after Joseph's is to accept our leaders flaws, and to not hold them to perfection.
What a wonderful lesson! Thanks to Sister Ross for all her hard work!!
